Forest Creek Wind Farm
E.ON’s
first US wind project, Forest Creek started generating power in 2006.
Its 54 Siemens Mark II 2.3 megawatt wind turbines rise 400 feet above
the hills of West Texas and have a combined capacity of 124.2
megawatts. Under ideal conditions, this wind farm can power 37,000
homes, preventing 220,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year.
Sited along ridgelines in West Texas, Forest Creek shares the landscape
with familiar staples of the Texan economy: sheep, cattle and oil
wells.
